I love hearing about marketing healthcare services directly to the consumer. The consumerism of healthcare and the explosion of mobile healthcare apps are evidence of society’s interest in learning more. It’s also enabling informed decision-making and better control of their healthcare.
This reminds me of the impact marketing MRI to consumers had back in the early 1990’s. MRI usage exploded when consumers started asking for MRI over CT or Xray for sports injuries.
Consumers are powerful influencers. Their influence is growing as they pay more out of pocket. Smart providers will offer their customers the tools they ask for. That is, granted reimbursement exists and proof of clinical benefit is tangible.
Great quote from an mHealthNews article – “Healthcare is not something to do to a patient. It should be something you do with a patient.”
